This blog is a little different than the financial advice I normally post but I want to talk about something that is so important to a marriage. Marriage can be and is a beautiful intimate covenant that’s shared between you and your spouse all under the convenance under God. No amount of money, wealth or riches can outweigh the worthiness of a biblical marriage.

We live in a world obsessed with wealth. We chase promotions, side hustles, and investment portfolios, all in the pursuit of financial security and the “good life.” We measure success by the size of our bank account, the square footage of our home, and the luxury of our vacations.

But if you have ever stood at the altar and pledged your life to another soul before God, you have already inherited a treasure far exceeding any earthly fortune.

In a culture where marriages are discarded as easily as last season’s fashion, a biblical marriage is not just a relationship; it is a rare and precious wealth.

The True Definition of Wealth

To understand the wealth of a biblical marriage, we have to redefine the term. The world’s wealth is external. It’s paper money, metal coins, and digital numbers on a screen. It is temporary, vulnerable to market crashes, inflation, and thieves.

The wealth of a biblical marriage, however, is internal. It is woven into the fabric of your soul. Proverbs 18:22 tells us, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.” The scripture doesn’t say you obtain a financial asset; it says you obtain favor. That favor—that grace, that partnership, that sanctuary—is the true currency of the Kingdom.

The Wealth of Covenant-Keeping

In a world of “as long as I feel happy,” a biblical marriage operates on the solid ground of covenant. A covenant is a sacred, unbreakable promise witnessed by God Himself.

This covenant provides a wealth that money cannot buy:

· The Wealth of Security: When you know your spouse is committed to you not because it’s easy, but because they made a vow before God, you experience a deep emotional and spiritual safety. You don’t have to perform for their love; you rest in their promise.

· The Wealth of Unconditional Love: Human love is fickle. It depends on mood, circumstance, and reciprocation. But when Christ is the center, He models for us a love that is patient, kind, and persevering. It is a love that forgives seventy-times-seven—a dividend that pays out endlessly.

Greater Wealth Through Unity

There is a mysterious power in two becoming one flesh (Genesis 2:24). When a husband and wife are united under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, their combined strength is not just additive; it is exponential.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 paints a beautiful picture of this wealth: “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

That third strand—the presence of Jesus Christ—is what makes the marriage unbreakable. When you face financial hardship, health crises, or the loss of a loved one, you don’t just have a spouse beside you; you have the Creator of the Universe weaving His strength through your union. That is a safety net no insurance policy can provide.

The Eternal Investment

Every dollar in your bank account will eventually be someone else’s. Your house will be sold. Your car will rust. But the legacy of a biblical marriage is eternal.

When your children see you serve your spouse, when they hear you pray together, and when they witness you extend grace during a disagreement, you are depositing spiritual wealth into their lives. You are building an inheritance of faith that will pass down for generations.

Moreover, your marriage itself is a living sermon. It is a physical representation of the Gospel—Christ’s sacrificial love for the Church (Ephesians 5:25). When the world looks at your marriage and sees forgiveness, patience, and enduring love, they catch a glimpse of God. That is a wealth that has eternal Kingdom impact.

Contentment: The True Bottom Line

The pursuit of wealth is often a pursuit of more. A biblical marriage teaches us the secret of contentment.

When you have a partner who knows your deepest fears, your ugliest failures, and your wildest dreams—and chooses to stay—you realize you have everything you need. 1 Timothy 6:6 reminds us, “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”

You might eat dinner off paper plates, drive a car with a check engine light that never turns off, and wear clothes from last decade. But if you come home to a spouse who loves the Lord and loves you, you are sitting on a gold mine.

A Prayer for Your Treasure

If you are married today, take a moment to look at your spouse. See them not just as your partner in chores and parenting, but as your partner in grace. They are the gift God gave you to sanctify you, to challenge you, and to love you.

Don’t guard your 401k more fiercely than you guard your marriage. Invest your time, your energy, and your prayers into this sacred union.

For what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his marriage? The world’s wealth is a shadow. But a marriage built on the Rock of Jesus Christ? That is a treasure that moth and rust cannot destroy, and thieves cannot break in and steal.

Cherish your wealth. Nurture your marriage. In God, you have a fortune greater than anything on earth.

Obedience matter not wealth, grace will be saved not gold and remember life is a gift from God.
